DESCRIPTIVE
ABSTRACT
Paul
Weiner, a registered architect and licensed residential and commercial
general contractor is the principal architect / owner of his Design
/ Build firm; Design & Building Consultants, Inc.
After
relocating from Illinois, Paul studied at the University of Arizona
receiving degrees in Environmental Planning and Architecture. His
practice has focused primarily on the rehabilitation, redefinition
and creation of regionally critical structures. Most of these structures
incorporate alternative energy and building systems, including Rammed
Earth, Adobe, Native Stone, Straw Bale, Weathered Steel and Concrete
as well as various Recycled Building Materials.
In
addition to his responsibilities with his firm, he holds the faculty
position of Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Arizona, College
of Architecture where he teaches in the third year design studio.
His most recent courses have focused on land ethics and tectonics.
Paul's
residential work has appeared in several publications including
Architecture, Fine Homebuilding, Architectural Record and Sunset
Magazines. He has written for Fine Homebuilding Magazine and is
a contributor to the leading text on Straw Bale construction, The
Straw Bale House.
While
Paul has focused primarily on residential projects some locally
visible public projects include; El Presidio Inn Bed and Breakfast,
Educational and Animal Care Facilities at the Arizona Sonora Desert
Museum, Rincon Market and the Old Pueblo Grill, formerly the Cottonwood
Café.
