Straw Bale Residences

In the early 1990’s Tucson and the surrounding area experienced a revival of Straw bale construction through the effort’s of locals Matts Mhyrman and Bill Steen, amongst others. DBC played an early role in this revival by researching and writing about the technology while designing and building numerous in Southern Arizona. Two of these structures were built in the downtown Tucson area in the historic Armory Park and Barrio Historico districts, one of which was the first architect designed permitted Straw bale structure in the City of Tucson.
